Questions & Answers
Below is a list of common questions or queries prior to booking.
How long does it take to qualify as a Qigong Instructor?
The Instructor course has a life cycle of 12 months. In some cases this duration can be extended. Those with prior experience may complete sooner. It takes time to create a Qigong body and mind, 12 months is just the beginning.

Is my qualification recognised to be able to start teaching?
Yes, Our course requirements have been approved by Holistic Insurance Services who provide practitioner insurance for teaching public classes.

For CIMPSA members, the training meets the 2022 Technical standards set out by the Tai Chi and Qigong Union of Great Britain and CIMPSA. The course is CPD certification and practitioner certification which enables you to gain insurance with many reputable companies.

Can I teach Qigong in schools?
Being able to teach in the education sector usually requires a recognised 'teaching in education' qualification. We recommend a Level 3 AET Course which can be taken alongside your Qigong Training Course. Its a great addition to have and will improve your skills as a teacher.

How do I pay for my Qigong Instructor Course?
An initial deposit of £200 is due to book your place on the course. Further payments can be paid in full or an instalment plan can be arranged.

Is online training sufficient enough for this course?
Yes! Online meetings are remarkably good for learning Qigong so distance is no longer a problem. The course content has been tried and tested since 2020. In general, certification is not given without face-to-face meeting at the assessment stage. This will be discussed during your Introduction session.

I work a full time job so cannot attend during the week. Will I be able to do the course?
Yes. There are options for evening and weekend training and support. We hope to make the experience fit into your daily life rather than disturb it. We'll make a plan together.

Do I have to do more training after the course?
Yes and No. All Instructors are required to complete development sessions each year to help maintain the standards of practice. We all get into bad habits with training when left for too long, so continued training helps retain your skills.

What happens after I have finished my training?
Just enjoy your Qigong and experience of helping yourself and others! When you are ready there are many additional core practices you can learn with us to help your session grow, and your students flourish. (See Additional Training Options below)

 Good to know!

You will have plenty time to complete each unit. The course has been designed to be manageable and fit with daily life, current work responsibilities and family commitments. It does help if you can build a plan so you don't feel rushed.

There are evening and weekend slots available if needed, so your new career path moves smoothly, without interfering with current plans too much. We have been students too!

Online training and assessment meetings are booked online via our booking platform so you can easily find times and days to suit your schedule. You can also re-schedule online if life gets in the way sometimes.

The course has a lifecycle of 12 months which is a guide to how long you have to complete your training.
Extensions and additional tutor meetings can be arranged, but do carry additional costs.

1:1 Training is always the best way to learn - In Person or Online

Instructor Training is mostly 1:1 private training or small groups. The school is not a large franchised or corporate business, so we are able to offer a more a personal and higher standard of interaction.  Individual and small group learning environments can bring greater results for students and Instructors.

Online and virtual training has proved to be a valuable way to reach those seeking continued professional development and further training for their existing qualified status.

Sometimes, where current instructor/students are at the same level or happy to train together in small groups, we arrange this, where needed, for instructor development.

Our training courses utilise online learning and virtual meetings, so we can support our students during their learning journey, should they not be able to attend in person.

School Principle, Christopher Handbury is long term, dedicated student of Qigong and Traditional Chinese Medicine with time served practice and knowledge, passing on authentic skills, as those have done before us. This is the way, and we endeavour to retain the traditional methods within a modern framework for learning.

CHSQ develop effective and professional Instructors that meet our high standards of training and practices, so individual attention is always the preferred way of learning.

Training courses follow the national standards required for teacher training and meets the requirements for professional insurance to work in the UK.  The Tai Chi and Qigong Union for Great Britain have worked closely with the
Chartered institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA) over recent years to raise the standards of technical ability for Tai Chi and Qigong.

Our courses and training have been designed to meet these standards of professional skill and knowledge

Please Be Mindful

We do not accept students without a genuine interest in Qigong and healing arts. To be able to teach others you must have the correct knowledge, care and skillset in place. Becoming a teacher is a great task and equally rewarding responsibility. Teachers must be of good character, honourable and respectful.

Qigong is not just an exercise system. It is the study of human energy (Qi) and dedication through effort (Gong) that makes it a powerful art of healing.

Training Requirements -

See below for Full Qualifications / CPD / Existing Students

Full Qualification - New Students 2022/2023
