What is Qigong?
A COMPLETE Health & Well-Being Experience
'Qi' is a word commonly used to describe our vital energy. The character depicts the steam rising from fluid (Yin) in a cooking pot as the flame (Yang) below heats the pot. Qi is the steam, a result of Yin and Yang interacting.
'Gong' means to study or gain knowledge and skill through great effort and dedication. You reap what you sow.
'Qigong' is often translated as 'energy work' or 'energy exercise' in its simplest form. 'Dao Yin' was an original term for Qigong, meaning 'Guiding the Qi exercise' or 'Exercise that guides the Qi'.
'Active Qigong' - Ba Duan Jin (Eight Brocades) is a method of specific active movements and postures that
stimulates the bodies natural response to healing, and helps to restore the functions of the body. When the body functions efficiently we feel this as wellness.
'Static Qigong' - Standing Qigong or Zhan Zhaung is a method of static postures practised to cultivate Qi through relaxation and structural release. Structural imbalances are often the root of pain and injuries so regular attention can resolve many problems with physical and emotional wellness.
On a deeper level, through dedicated practise, it helps to resolve physical and emotional blockages while building resistance to illness and disease. Strength comes from the inside out.
Regular practice helps to reduce pain, improve energy and balance the emotions so we can have a happy and enjoyable daily life. It really does make a BIG difference!

When we remove un-necassary tensions from the body through deeper breathing and co-ordinated movement the mind begins to let go of accumulated stress and will leave you feeling refreshed, restored and revived. Qigong really does make a difference! |
Take your biggest breath ever!
Self Healing is all about developing physical and emotional space!
Life can become crowded and other people can make us feel drained or fatigued. Qigong helps you to gain back your own personal space and allow time for your own growth and daily happiness. Learning how to stay healthy for just YOU is a leap forward to better health and Vitatlity |
Release and Let Go
Qigong at its deepest level is a system for self healing. The practice teaches us to gently release tensions and strengthen the mind.
Over time and with regular practice physical restrictions caused by emotional trauma can easily dissolve in such a subtle way that it makes this practice a great additional aid in the journey of self development and emotional health. |
Courage & Stability
Quite often through lifes challenges we become disconnected from the people and activities we love.
Through regular daily practice (just 15 minutes!) of Qigong we can return to the person we were when we were happy and balanced and begin feeling connected to others and the things we do everyday. When you are balanced confidence and courage return. Self esteem can be nourished and life becomes more stable with solid foundations. |
Rest & General Well-Being
Feeling rested and able to enjoy your daily life is very important. Quality of sleep and regular sleep patterns really help us to feel much brighter.
Feeling youthful and full of life is not just for the young. Sometimes feeling old is only because we have stopped using out bodies in the ways we did when we were younger. Qigong can literally put the spring back in your step and the spark in your life! Age is just a number when you join our Qigong classes. |
Sports Performance
Not only does Qigong Nourish the Mind and Body but it also improves Sports Performance, Relaxes and heals Injuries and promotes structural connections for better performance.
Qigong Strengthens and tones muscles while relaxing tension in the musculo-skeletal framework. This means faster recovery, better response and a healthy physical body so you can enjoy the training you love with more enjoyment and less injury or pain. |
